PRODUCT SPECIFICATION

Ohio Sunshine’s state-of-the-art plant is equipped with two advanced production lines of photovoltaic equipment.  This generation of equipment will enable Ohio Sunshine to produce both standard photovoltaic (PV) modules and building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV).

We understand that to complete projects on time and at scale, solar developers need to:

The flexibility of our manufacturing equipment allows us to offer customers two different solutions to their PV module requirements. Both solutions include a Master Supply Agreement (“MSA”) up to 5 years, and come with 25-year warranty and product assurance, underwritten by Munich RE (for certified and audited suppliers only).

Key Technologies in Focus

N-Type Silicon Cells

N-type silicon cells, doped with phosphorus, offer significant advantages over traditional P-type cells. Their key features include:

Resistance to Light-Induced Degradation (LID)

unaffected by the degradation issues common to P-type cells.

Higher Electron Mobility

The improved movement of charge carriers boosts conversion efficiency.

Lower Sensitivity to Impurities

Enhanced performance and longevity are achieved through reduced vulnerability to contamination.

TOPCon Structure

The TOPCon structure builds on the success of N-type silicon by adding a thin layer of silicon oxide (SiO2) between the silicon wafer and a doped polycrystalline silicon contact. This design provides:

  • Reduced Recombination Losses: The ultra-thin SiO2 layer enables efficient electron passage while minimizing energy losses.
  • Surface Passivation: Polycrystalline silicon enhances electrical performance by mitigating defects on the cell surface.

The synergy between N-type cells and TOPCon technology enables conversion efficiencies exceeding 24%, a significant leap forward in solar energy performance. While N-type cells alone deliver high efficiency, the addition of TOPCon optimizes their potential, making this combination a standout solution in the industry.

Advantages Over Competing Technologies

When compared to competing technologies such as Heterojunction Technology (HJT), TOPCon offers a compelling balance of performance and cost-effectiveness. Although HJT provides slightly higher efficiencies, its manufacturing costs are considerably higher. With many leading manufacturers adopting TOPCon for mass production, it is well-positioned to capture a growing share of the global and U.S. solar markets. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, new U.S. solar capacity is projected to reach 22 GW by 2026, underscoring the vast potential for TOPCon adoption.

Design Your Own Panel

The facility can manufacture and assemble solar panels based on customer specifications, using either customer-supplied or customer-selected and sourced components. This flexible scenario supports a wide range of technologies and pricing strategies. Our experienced team of solar module designers and engineers is available to help customers develop optimized solutions tailored to their specific needs.  Additionally, Ohio Sunshine leverages industry partnerships to streamline procurement and logistics, securing limited domestic supplies of critical materials for select customers, allowing the customers to be eligible for Domestic Content Bonus Credits.  The minimum order for this option is 15MW.

Panel Design Options

We are excited to begin discussions on how Ohio Sunshine can provide a domestic solution to your development supply chain!
